Class Of 2022 Virginia Chapter Of The National Wrestling Hall Of Fame Inductees Announced

RICHMOND, Va. - Jan. 26, 2022 - PRLog -- RICHMOND, Virginia – The Virginia Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame is honored to announce five inductees for the Class of 2022 who have made a lifetime of outstanding contributions to the sport of wrestling in the commonwealth of Virginia.

Mike Benzel, Paul Pcsolinski, Tony Robie, Armand Taylor, and Terry Waters will receive the Lifetime Service to Wrestling award. The honor is presented to coaches, officials and contributors who have dedicated a lifetime of stellar service to advancing the sport of wrestling.

Mike Benzel has coached high school wrestling in Virginia Beach for 40+ years, the majority at Kellam High School, where he has coached over 100 state place winners.

Paul Pcsolinski coached at Menchville High School in Newport News, VA from 1969-1992.  His teams compiled a 319-45 record, won 23 district championships, 2 region championships and the state title in 1976.

Tony Robie currently serves as the Head Coach for Virginia Tech's wrestling team, who are ranked 8th in the country, according to the NWCA Coaches' Poll.  Tony is an inspirational leader who has transformed Virginia Tech wrestling into a national powerhouse and built the Southeast Regional Training Center into an international success.

Armand Taylor founded two of Virginia's anchor programs, Norfolk Academy and Kempsville High School, and served as their head coach.  Remarkably, he was also an assistant or volunteer coach at eight other high school and middle school programs throughout his career.

Terry Waters has long served Virginia's youth.  He's the head coach at Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro and spent 30 years coaching at Riverheads and Fort Defiance high schools amassing over 400 dual meet victories.  He's been named Coach of the Year 11 times.

The Class of 2022 will be honored on April 9th, 2022, at the Virginia Crossings Resort and Conference Center, 100 Virginia Center Parkway, Glen Allen, VA 23059.  There will be a reception at 4:30pm followed by a banquet and induction ceremony at 6:00pm.
