Professional football player, Andy St. Fleur, Participates in Holiday Backpack distribution
By: Black Diamond PR, LLC
Andy St. Fleur, on top of being a professional football player, has been training with the US Olympic Skeleton team for a chance to compete in the next Olympics. During his training, he spends most of his time in Utah. Since he was home in Norwalk, he felt like it was the perfect opportunity to give back to the underprivileged students in his community.
"It was a pleasure working with Filling in the Blanks," said St. Fleur. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to help service around Connecticut with other compassionate, giving, and unselfish people."
Filling in the Blanks has been fighting childhood by providing children in need with meals on the weekends for almost 10 years. Founded in 2013, Filling in the Blanks has now expanded to include 80 schools throughout Fairfield and Westchester Counties and has delivered over one million weekend meals to children in low-income households. Fillings in the Blanks supports Pre-Schools, Elementary Schools, Middle Schools, High Schools, Camps, and After School Programs. The Holiday Backpack program provides children in the weekend meal program with a new full size backpack during the holiday season. Having a backpack is essential for these students to be able to transport the meals home each weekend. Every year during the holidays, Filling in the Blanks fills these new backpacks with pancake mix and syrup, a new book, a new game, dental kits, and many other needed items.
Filling in the Blanks will be having other events throughout the year like; Plates with Purpose, Unite to Fight, Golf Outing and Mitchell's Fashion Show. This opportunity with Filling in the Blanks was the best way for Andy to show how much he loves his community.
