Legacy Park Campaign at East Orange Historic Ambrose-Ward Mansion Begins During Black History Month

EAST ORANGE, N.J. - Feb. 6, 2022 - PRLog -- The African American Fund of New Jersey along with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Eta Pi Chapter, and the Greater Essex Community Uplift Foundation have announced the official launch of the fundraising campaign, "Building Legacy Park: Brick by Brick". The two-day kick-off event will take place the weekend of February 19^th and 20^th at the Ambrose Ward Mansion located at 132 South Harrison Street, East Orange, NJ.

The launch will begin with a Legacy Park Rally, where members of the community will celebrate the Ambrose-Ward Mansion and commemorate the people, places, and legacies that continue to inspire our rich local history. Residents, shareholders, and stakeholders are invited to attend the Rally which begins at noon.  Following the Rally attendees will enjoy a Mansion Marketplace with 20+ curated vendors, along with exhibits and information on the upcoming Legacy Park Project. The event will take place Saturday February 19 from 12:00-6:00pm and Sunday from 1:00pm- 6:00pm.

As part of the fundraising effort, attendees and contributors will be able to purchase engraved brick pavers that pay tribute to past and present legacy makers.

Commissioned by the Vanderbilt Family, the Ambrose-Ward Mansion was built in 1889 and was added to the National Registrar of Historic Places on September 20^th, 1982.
