New novel All Told explores orbit of pain created by infidelity

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Jan. 11, 2022 - PRLog -- Imagine being an "other woman" and then finding out that you're not the only one. There have been many other women before you and even standing alongside you right now. All Told, the new novel by Kathie Giorgio, goes beyond the typical triangle of husband, wife, and lover. As the stories grow and the involvements become more interconnected, the question of who is cheating on who and why becomes more difficult to answer.

In this fifth novel from Giorgio, each chapter reveals another secret and tells the experience of someone affected by the trysts of Jack, a man who believed early that one is never enough. But as the reader soon learns, every secret has two sides, and in some cases, even more than that.

Kathie Giorgio wanted to articulate the ripple effect of hurt caused by infidelity.

"When the #metoo movement hit, I was stunned by how many women stepped forward, often about the same man. As soon as one woman spoke up, more stood up and raised their voices as well. The #metoo movement is about standing against sexual harassment and sexual assault, but my mind shifted to affairs and the phrase, "Once a cheater, always a cheater." I wondered how likely it was that an Other Woman would really be the only Other Woman and if she in fact was being cheated on as well. From there, my mind went to others affected by the infidelity, beyond the spouse/spouse/other triangle. The book spilled out."

KATHIE GIORGIO is the critically acclaimed author of five novels, two story collections, a collection of essays, two poetry chapbooks, and a full-length poetry book. Giorgio's short stories and poems have appeared widely in literary magazines and anthologies. She has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize in both fiction and poetry.
