NEW YORK - Jan. 6, 2022 - PRLog -- New York, NY- As Minority and Latino-owned restaurant establishments across New York State continue to struggle from the effects of the Covid-19 Pandemic and most recently, the Omicron variant, Governor Kathy Hochul provided a measure of relief during her "State of the State Address". During her address to the state, Governor Hochul introduced the "Drinks To-Go" program, permitting restaurants, bars and lounges throughout the state to sell alcoholic beverages to go. In addition to the program, Governor Hochul also introduced other forms of small business relief and grants including a Covid-19 tax credit to restaurant owners for the additional construction expenses incurred during the state's enforcement of outdoor dining.

"As they say, 'Winter is Coming' for Latino Restaurants across the city and Governor Hochul's "Drinks To-Go" proposal gives us the hope we need to continue the fight through this tough time. Minority-owned restaurants will not survive the winter without a coordinated relief effort, we believe the Governor heard the industry's "cries for help" and gave us the solution we needed. We rallied, we petitioned, we called our elected officials, we met at all hours of the night, and fought our hearts out for Drinks To-Go and want to thank Governor Hochul for responding in kind. Together, we look forward to taking this proposal to the legislature and we urge the Senate and Assembly to pass this bill expeditiously.  Restaurants sit empty and owners are weighing tough choices everyday.  Timing is of the essence."
