Jill Friedberg new solo exhibition "A Room of One's Own" to open at the Eric Fischl Gallery

PHOENIX - Jan. 4, 2022 - PRLog -- Friedberg is thrilled to debut her latest mixed media series of paintings and sculpture at the Eric Fischl Gallery. These works aim to convey her confidence in the world's future, portraying different aspects of life contained within the confines of various rooms— rooms filled with abundant flora, fauna, and artifacts. She expresses her optimism for the fate of subsequent generations through her depictions of the interaction between humanity and nature, symbiotically overcoming the disparaging forces that each face.

Friedberg has developed an inimitable style, fusing her genuine interest in multiculturalism and the environment with her love for expressive art forms. By integrating more than 30 layers of her photographic images taken from her travels throughout the world with acrylic paint and repurposed materials, Friedberg creates compelling narratives relating to global concerns.

Her works invite the viewer into a world of unbridled imagination in which emotional desires, dreams and unique experiences are expressed onto canvases filled with intense color and skewed perspectives.

For nearly four decades following her education at Northwestern University and The School of the Art Institute Of Chicago, Friedberg has established herself as a nationally recognized visual artist whose works have been exhibited extensively in museums, galleries and universities throughout the United States. Most recently a piece was accepted into The Archives of American Art of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. Also, her work was selected for the Arizona Biennial 2018 and 2020 at The Tucson Museum of Art. In earlier years she was selected to be a member of ARC, an artist cooperative in Chicago which was founded during the women's movement as an alternative to the mainstream galleries (it is one of the oldest co-ops of its kind in the country.)

The public is invited to the opening of "A Room of One's Own" at the Eric Fischl Gallery on February 14, 2022 from 5:30-8:00pm. Friedberg's work will be on display from February 14 – March 8, 2022 with gallery hours Monday-Thursday, 10am to 6pm, and by appointment.

The Eric Fischl Gallery is located at the Phoenix College 1202 W. Thomas Road, Phoenix AZ. Parking is available in the North Parking Lot off of Flower and 11th.
