Military wife Carol Cherry Anderson dedicates her novel Walking Through Battles on the Bay "to the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to protect others." Her personal hero is her husband Charles, "a brave Vietnam veteran," whose story is not told in this novel "because he, like many of you, finds it painful to discuss his war experience. However, the stories here honor all who served, for it is a composite of many." Set in 2002, the book recounts the stories of several Vietnam vets and their families who have retired in the Monterey Bay area. The painful events of the recent 9/11 attacks have kindled their wartime memories. The author writes: This novel is a blend of fact and fiction, all inter-woven around true events. My hope is that you will see how we are often guided by a higher power. This is sometimes manifested via new ideas and thoughts, which I often call a "God thing." I wish to show honor to military families, as all my previous books have. This novel features a fictional composite of veterans . . . These heroes represent thousands of brave military men and women. About the Author: Carol Cherry Anderson earned degrees in educational psychology and journalism from Cal State University. Her careers included being a reporter and working as a college and career counselor. Named Reporter of the Year, she is now retired.
