Sarah Meinhart, Estate Planning Attorney Directs New Program to Help Transfer Real Estate Ownership

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Dec. 27, 2021 - PRLog -- Sarah Meinhart is working with The Washtenaw County's Home for Generations program that helps black families who inherited homes establish legal ownership with a Ladybird deed.

Practices like redlining, discriminatory lending, and racial segregation led Black families to purchase homes through land contracts or handshake agreements, and their descendants have continued to occupy these homes without legal documentation. The program has returned over $1 million in property wealth to families in 2019 and 2020 (data for 2021 is not yet available).

She has been involved as pro bono attorney with the Washtenaw County "Homes for Generation" program for 2 years.
