Community arts and recreation center hosting grand opening gala for new Jack Wilcox Theatre

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Dec. 20, 2021 - PRLog -- The PARC-Plymouth Arts and Recreation Complex (https://www.plymouthparc.com/) is planning a grand opening gala to celebrate the completion of a newly restored theater in what was once the historic Plymouth High School.

"PARC After Dark: Celebrating the opening of the Jack Wilcox Theatre" will be held on Saturday, Jan. 22 beginning at 6:30 p.m. to both showcase the new theater as well as thank those who helped make the multi-million restoration project possible.

The year-long renovation, much of which was funded by the Wilcox Family Foundation, transformed the building's auditorium into a new multi-use theatre for community groups, including the Michigan Philharmonic, Forever After Productions, Artistry Dance Center, and Main Street Opera Theater.

Originally built in 1917, the renovated theater features a fully restored stage, a unique retractable seating system for 200 (the entire space can seat 320) as well as modern sound, lighting and acoustical systems. It will be available for rental use by community groups looking to stage music, dance, theater or other productions along with banquets, class reunions or other family or business events.

The gala opening will include a brief performance by the renowned Michigan Philharmonic, featuring well-known mandolin artist Brad Phillips, along with a strolling cocktails and hors d'oeuvres reception, a short program and more.
