Dating Sunday (Jan 2): iris Dating releases Super Search

Members can look forward to making faster, better connections

NEW YORK - Dec. 20, 2021 - PRLog -- The first Sunday of every January — "dating Sunday" — is the hottest time of the year for online dating. In 2018, Match claimed that its users spiked by 80% and that dating activity reached an all-time high.

Like every year, 2022 will see a surge in the number of people using dating apps — in other words, a surge in the number of people disappointed by dating apps. They'll swipe through thousands of profiles — a fraction of the app's user base — before inevitably getting burnt out once again.

Instead of facilitating meaningful matches, these apps aim to keep users active as long as possible so they can continue to charge monthly subscription fees.

iris, an early-stage dating app startup that uses artificial intelligence to predict physical attraction, spent two years trying to compete with the retention of leading platforms like Tinder and Hinge by using similar strategies.

"We screwed up just as much as them," said Chief Product Officer Daniel Mori. "And we realized that our business goals weren't aligned with the goals of our members. But that stops with Super Search."

On January 2nd, iris will introduce a new feature called Super Search to help its members experience better connections in less time. Instead of asking members to swipe endlessly, Super Search will produce a personalized set of results for each member out of the 100,000 most recently active users. The list of Super Search results will include the users most likely to lead to mutual attraction.

Super Search will cost a one-time (non-recurring) $9.99 fee. "You pay once, run Super Search, and we hope to never see you again," Mori said. "That means that unlike other dating apps, iris is actually designed to be deleted."

iris uses artificial intelligence (AI), to analyze thousands of facial features to learn what kind of person the user finds visually attractive. It uses this AttractionDNA™ to connect people who are likely to be a match.

After downloading the app, each user undergoes a three-phase training process so iris' artificial intelligence can learn their physical type. In the first phase of training, members like approximately 5% of the random stock photos shown to them. By the third phase, once iris has started showing recommended photos, they like on average 50%.

iris is available for download on IOS or Android. For more information, visit irisdating.com (https://www.irisdating.com/).
