Barrio Mexico Is Ready For Liga Motorola Apertura Final Against Puntarenas FC

Dec. 11, 2021 - PRLog -- Barrio Mexico is set to host its half of the Liga Motorpla Apertura Final on Sunday.

Barrio Mexico travels to play Puntarenas FC at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday, December 12 at Estadio Miguel 'Lito' Perez (Av Centenario, Provincia de Puntarenas, Costa Rica) in the first leg of a Liga Motorola Apertura Final.

The match will be broadcast live on TDMas.com.

Barrio Mexico came from behind to defeat Marineros de Puntarenas, 2-1, on Saturday, Dec. 4 to claim Group 'A'. Edder Mounguio and Deybis Jimenez both scored after the 60th minute in the win.

Barrio MX manager Gilberto 'El Tuma' Martinez said, "The boys are aware of what we are going to face. It will be a very difficult game. Two teams that have reached the final - and if we are in the final it is because we are good teams."

Barrio Mexico (10-7-3 W-D-L) now is unbeaten over its last 10 matches overall. Barrio entered the Liga Motorola promotion playoffs as the No. 3 team in Group A before defeating AD Carmelita 4-1 on aggregate in the first round and Marineros de Puntarenas 2-1 in the Group A Final.

Martinez added, "Beyond the psychological part, our players know they are playing in a final so they don't need any more motivation. It will be a very intense match in Puntarenas. They will not give our players any space."

Jimenez leads Barrio Mexico with five goals this season. Goalkeeper Brian Morales leads a defense that has allowed just 15 goals through 20 matches.
