By: Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce Association (NJTIA) recognizes the accomplishments of those who achieved true excellence in providing an exceptional experience that enhances tourism across New Jersey with their annual awards that were presented at their conference held at Hard Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City on December 1 2021. The organization received nominations from across the state the projects that were recognized were Partnership for Haddonfield for the Public Relations Award, Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce representing the Long Beach Island Region awarded for Digital Outreach, and Monmouth County Tourism receiving the President's Award. Realizing the exemplary actions taken in response from COVID19. NJTIA issued Jersey Strong Awards on outstanding campaigns from Greater Wildwood Tourism Improvement and Development Authority with Suasion Communications Group, Elizabeth DMO, and Cape May County Tourism. The 2021 Jim Whelan Excellence in Tourism Award was presented to Sharon Franz, Sales and Marketing Director of Atlantic City's Steel Pier Associates, LLC and Past President and Conference Chair for NJTIA. The awards honor projects, events, programs, partnerships, promotional initiatives, digital outreach, or attraction by any person, business or organization, be it public or private, profit or non-profit who works toward the common goal of improving the New Jersey tourism product, increasing over-night stays and attracting out-of-state visitors and increasing mid-week stays, increasing tourism expenditures, and positively promoting locations within New Jersey as a destination.
