Barack Obama School Charters first southland region Future Farmers of America Chapter

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. - Dec. 9, 2021 - PRLog -- Chicago Heights, IL - Young students at Barack Obama School of Leadership & STEM, a 4th - 5th grade elementary school in Park Forest - Chicago Heights School District 163, are excited to be chartering the first ever Future Farmers of America chapter in the Southland region. The Barack Obama School of Leadership & STEM has an agriculture program that teaches young students the ins and outs of the agriculture industry.

According to their website, a "FFA chapter may be chartered in any public school with an agricultural education program. Leadership is provided by student officers who are elected each year by the chapter's members, and by the agriculture teacher who serves as the advisor for the chapter."

SD 163 and the Illinois Association FFA State President, Adam Loker, and Treasurer, Kara Freebairn will host the Offical Charter Signing Event. They will provide remarks and present the District 163 FFA Chapter with their official Charter. Inaugural charter members will sign the FFA Chapter Charter for display in the school. Illinois

Agricultural Education Program Advisor, Luke Allen, will also share remarks about the significance of this event and the importance of offering students the opportunity to study about food and agriculture. Following the FFA Chapter Charter signing the Chicago Area FFA President, Emily Lesko, will join the State FFA Officers in presenting a leadership workshop for the students about establishing core values and setting goals.
