Hillside Terrace Partners with Perfect Pair to Fight Loneliness

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Dec. 6, 2021 - PRLog -- Perfect Pair helps U of M students establish strong ties with an older generation. Perfect Pair is an organization created by U-M students and alumni that fosters one-on-one connections between seniors at assisted living facilities and college students.

Bobbie Jean Gill, a resident at Hillside Terrace, has established a great connection with U of M student Lizzy Rueppel. Founded in summer 2020 by Emily Lerner, a U-M graduate, along with other students, the organization has fostered over 52 matches, about 100 college student volunteers and seven partner communities in Ann Arbor, Saline, Farmington and Northville.

Because of COVID-19, all the meetings were initially virtual. Now, many student-senior pairs have the opportunity to meet in person. This allowed relationships built over Zoom to flourish, with pairs able to do in-person activities like cooking or taking walks together, and share more pieces of their lives with one another.
