Framingham couple makes 'giving back' a guiding principle of their business

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - Nov. 29, 2021 - PRLog -- Len and Lynda Glassman have combined their love of the ocean and fishing with their desire to create a line of outdoor lifestyle clothing and support causes they are passionate about. After decades of enjoying boating and fishing in the waters of Cape Cod, the couple launched Big Fish Products in 2019.

And now they are rolling out their new Big Fish product line to a national audience.

Since the goal of everyone who fishes is to catch a big one, Big Fish was a natural when they needed a name for their venture. Using a logo and design that incorporates the name with the shape of a fish, they began selling t-shirts and baseball hats to a wide circle of people they knew, as well as at events like the New England Fishing Expo.

But the "hook" for many customers is the fact that Big Fish donates a portion of each purchase to charitable organizations. During the height of the pandemic, they began donating to food security organizations. "When Covid struck we shifted gears toward feeding Americans standing in food lines because of sudden job loss," said Len. "It struck a nerve with us." This was in addition to their support for the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which funds research for Parkinson's Disease.

"Personally, we have four friends dealing with Parkinson's Disease, so the Michael J. Fox Foundation was the best choice," said Len, "as 88% of all money goes directly to research." Big Fish also recently added the American Cancer Society to its list of organizations to which they donate. "It was a natural choice as we've lost many extended family members and friends to this dreaded disease," added Lynda.

This year, the Big Fish product design was updated, and they added several more performance-oriented items to the line, including UV-protection long-sleeved sun shirts, and ¼ zip pullovers for cooler and breezier weather. "Customers feel great about helping raise money for causes they like while buying products they want to wear," said Lynda.

"People tell us they love our clothing," added Len. "Soft and comfortable. One fellow said he loves his Big Fish shirt so much he wore it out."

Len noted that they've gotten many customer testimonials, which are posted on the Big Fish website. "We've received several thank you letters for our 'giving back' efforts from the Michael J. Fox Foundation, Project Bread, and the Worcester Food Bank," he added.
