By: Barrio Mexico Barrio Mexico travels to play Marineros de Puntarenas at 11 a.m. CT on Sunday, November 28 at Estadio Miguel Angel "Lito" Perez (Av Centenario, Provincia de Puntarenas) in the first leg of a Liga Motorola Apertura Group 'A' Final. Barrio Mexico entered the Liga Motorola promotion playoffs as the No. 3 team in Group A before defeating AD Carmelita 4-1 on aggregate in the first round. Head Coach Gilberto 'El Tuma' Martinez said, "A very complicated opponent is coming up. Marineros is a team that fights from start to finish (and) they have a clear idea of the game. Our aspiration is to be champion, but I cannot disrespect (Marineros). They are in the semifinals for good reason, so we are going step by step and hopefully we'll achieve a good result." Barrio Mexico (9-6-3 W-D-L) topped Carmelita 3-0 in the first leg on Sunday, Nov. 14, and played to a 1-1 draw at home on Nov. 21. The club now is unbeaten over its last eight matches overall. Barrio MX midfielder Din Jhon Arias said, "We know the strengths and weaknesses of the opponent but the work is on us and what we're working on everyday must be out into practice on Sunday." Gilberto 'El Tuma' Martinez is Head Coach of Barrio Mexico. Martinez made 61 appearances with the Costa Rica National Team from 2001-11 during a professional career that included 68 appearances for Saprissa from 1999-'02 and stops with Bresia and Roma in Italy's Serie A. Deybis Jimenez, Verny Scott and Jonathan Hansen have four goals apiece to lead Barrio Mexico. Goalkeeper Brian Morales leads a defense that has allowed just 14 goals through 18 matches. Barrio Mexico Barrio Mexico is a Costa Rican professional football club based in San Jose, CR. Founded in 1948, the club is looking to return to Liga de Futbol de Primera Division (Liga FPD) for the first time since 2014. Barrio Mexico is a charter member of Liga Movistar and competes in the Liga de Ascenso Segunda Division. The club also manages a full youth development program.
