Goodwill SWFL receives $20,000 grant from the Truist Foundation

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Nov. 23, 2021 - PRLog -- Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida received a $20,000 grant from the Truist Foundation in support of training provided at their Community Resource Centers (CRCs).

Goodwill CRCs provide free training for those in the community who need to improve their employment prospects and technology skills. CRC coordinators provide resume writing assistance, interviewing skills training, employability workshops, and digitals skills training to increase opportunities for employment, advancement and independence.

"Goodwill Southwest Florida is appreciative of this support from the Truist Foundation," states Angela Hemstreet, Director of Community Support Services for Goodwill SWFL.  "The digital skills trainings offered in our centers help those we serve move toward independence in very real ways. We have folks in their 70's who needed to learn how to navigate websites to pay their bills online after a spouse is no longer able to do so, and we have learners who are gaining skills in specific computer software to obtain a better job. The Coordinators and I are excited to share the various opportunities now available in our Community Resource Centers!"

There are eight CRC's, collocated within Goodwill SWFL retail stores, and they serve people in Lee, Collier, Charlotte and Hendry counties. In 2020, Goodwill SWFL provided assistance to nearly 25,000 people.
