"La Mia Sorella" Connects to Italian Culture Through the Kitchen

Kiki Przewlocki's debut novel celebrates sisterhood, heritage, and Italian cuisine

HOUSTON - Nov. 22, 2021 - PRLog -- After years of exploring creative visualization, meditation, writing, singing, and theatre, Kiki Przewlocki expands her artistic repertoire by publishing her debut novel La Mia Sorella, (My Sister) (TouchPoint Press, November 10, 2021). A homage to Przewlocki's grandmother and great aunt, La Mia Sorella celebrates the history of Italian village Paola through the perspectives of two sisters working to stay true to their family and themselves.

In aromatic detail, Przewlocki describes the relationship between sisters Arabella and Filomena with the familial devotion that comes from little moments spent together in the kitchen, or sharing a homemade dish. In combining the cultural significance of twentieth-century Paola, Italy with a fictional tale of self-purpose, Przewlocki hopes readers will discover, in their own ways, "that pushing through difficult interactions and situations can lead to stronger, more authentic relationships with others and one's self."

About the Book
La Mia Sorella, (My Sister), explores the complex relationship between two sisters and their extraordinary love for one another. From their traditional village in Southern Italy on the Mediterranean Sea to the ever-changing landscape of Boston's North End in early 20th century, the sisters embark on distinctly different roads in pursuit of love, opportunity and purpose. But when betrayal, desire and greed test the exceptional bond of the two sisters, will they be torn apart by the men in their lives battling for control? And how can they remain true to themselves amidst a world — and a family — at war?
