Follow on Google News | Planejunkie.com announces a New Aviation Book with Original Pencil Drawing by Richard TaylorNow available to order, Guy Gibson's Pilot's Flying Log Book – with Original Pencil Drawing by Richard Taylor.
By: Plane Junkie Only a small number have ever been created, officially licensed as a faithful reproduction of the original, which is preserved in the Public Records Office in London. It begins on 15 November 1940, with a 'aileron / elevator test' on a 29 Squadron Blenheim, and continues through all of his future flights, ending on 16 September 1944 with a 'air test' of a P-38 Lightning. Gibson was murdered three days later, on September 19, while flying a Mosquito over Holland. However, for Dambuster fans, the most essential entries are those running up to and involving the mission on the 16th and 17th of May 1943, when he led the Lancasters of 617 Squadron on Operation Tornado. In honor of the nineteen Lancaster crews who took part in Operation Chastise, the COLLECTOR'S EDITION is carefully limited to only NINETEEN copies. Each edition includes an exact replica of Guy Gibson's Flying Log Book No.2 in a velvet-lined, embossed presentation box, as well as an ORIGINAL pencil artwork created especially for the occasion by Richard Taylor, one of the UK's most brilliant aviation artists. A Certificate of Authenticity is used to verify the authenticity of both the drawing and the replica Log Book.
