Kontroll Technik Announces It's New 360 Degree Reformer Tube Inspection System

SCHWARMSTEDT, Germany - Oct. 27, 2021 - PRLog -- The latest developed technology in the SMR industry for inspecting reformer tubes is now being introduced as the RPS-360-OD an external automated scanning system. This equipped is built with a powerful proprietary, hybrid NDT technique for sensitive crack detection in reformer tubes, up to 23mm wall thickness that inspects 360° around each tube. As this proprietary technique needs no couplant and is not dependent on tube cleanliness, the readings are repeatable from one inspection to the next inspection.

The OD diameter measurement inspection system is performed by using multiple lasers for creep detection and diametric growth. Both procedures are performed simultaneously to the powerful proprietary inspection technique at a fast rate. By differential laser measurements, a maximum accuracy for the diameter measurement will be achieved and correlated with the crack detection system.

Once the RPS-360 inspection is complete, the inspection data is analyzed to assess fitness-for-service (FFS) from Level 1 to Level 3 in accordance with API-579 and ASME FFS standards. Level 1 assessments can be provided on customer's site after the inspection is complete.
