AfrosUnidos Distributed More Than 100 Blankets For The Homeless

MEDELLÍN, Colombia - Oct. 21, 2021 - PRLog -- We all possess something to give. With a personal commitment to bringing about a difference in the lives of people, we all CAN make a big difference. There may be a shivering child, an elderly woman, or a homeless individual seeking refuge and shelter from the changes in climate, waiting with anxiety for a helping hand. Can a human heart ignore there basic necessities and simply walk away?

On the streets of Medellin there are thousands of homeless people, who spend their nights on roadsides, at bus stands, footpaths and other public places in the city. During the night time many of these individuals are sleeping without proper cover often times attempting to provide shelter from the elements with what they can find on the streets or with trash. These blankets can save a child's life, protect a woman's dignity and make a huge difference in the lives of people.

AfrosUnidos laid its roots with a small yet effective act of kindness. It began when one of their US partners, strolling through the streets of Colombia, spotted numerous individuals sleeping and taking shelter on the streets. He soon realized that, during the changing weather, surviving on the streets may become very difficult without suitable refuge. As a result they chose to buy in excess of 100 blankets to donate to those in need. Indeed, humanity is still alive.

As stated by Matthew Davis, "this is a simple act of goodness; anybody could make a major impact on the community - perhaps saving a life, by such tiny gestures."

AfrosUnidos continues with its legacy of empathizing with the needy part of the population, it is now catering to the homeless individuals that need consideration. The purchasing of blankets for them to hep them stay warm during the chilly rains is a way to make them feel an essential part of the community. Encouraging the initiative, President Herschel Chalk says, "it makes me feel so happy to see such charity by people who are just on holiday, assess a need within society, take action, and bring about effectual change."

This global organization plays a prominent part for Afro-descendant individuals to provide autonomous community advocacy, growth, and self-determination. The blanket distribution drive served as another act of kindness that this global organization aims to achieve.
