Miami Ranks Among the Top 50 Most Sustainable Cities

 
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - Oct. 10, 2021 - PRLog -- The City of Miami is not only showing growing signs in terms of its population increasing due to the COVID-19 outbreak but also displaying major progress in sustainable growth, due to a recent study from Commerical Cafe.

Out of 5,000 cities with populations over 1 million, Miami broke into the top 50 most sustainable cities in the USA, coming in at number 35. Miami proved to be a leader in;
  1. Reducing CO2 emissions
  2. Improving air quality
  3. An increasing number of LEED-certified buildings - it's 2nd best scoring metric
  4. Increasing green transportation - placing an overall 3rd among all recipients showing major advances in bike lanes, e-scooters, and walking-friendly routes

And the City of Miami showed its continued commitment to battling climate change when Miami-Dade County Mayor Levine Cava named Jane Gilbert, a longtime local public and community leader, as Interim Chief Heat Officer, making her the first person globally to hold the title.
