Children's Chorus Remembers The Lives Affected By The Pandemic Through Duruflé's Requiem

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Oct. 6, 2021 - PRLog -- The Jacksonville Children's Chorus (JCC) invites the community to join together and remember the lives affected by the Covid-19 pandemic through its memorial concert on Monday, November 1st, 2021 at 7:00pm.

The memorial will feature the works of Requiem, Op. 9 by Maurice Duruflé performed by JCC's Concert & Touring Choirs, Voices of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville University Singers. This beautiful Requiem was composed in the 20th century with material taken from Mass of the Dead in Gregorian chant. Duruflé's Requiem is often described as "achingly beautiful" reflecting anguish in the form of Christian prayer. The memorial's repertoire, under the direction of JCC's President & Artistic Director Darren Dailey, was selected to help provide solace rather than invoking fear for the lives lost. "The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the world entirely," Dailey says, "As a community, it is important that we come together to reflect and help each other heal."

The JCC's Covid-19 Memorial Concert will be a free event held in-person with masks required at the Riverside Presbyterian Church. There will be limited seating to ensure proper physical distancing.
