Referendum Deadlock May Tear Nigeria Apart And Send Millions Of Refugees Into Europe

The Yoruba Nation Global Directorate has berated the federal government of Nigeria for its failure and continued patronage of the terrorists destroying the fabric of social cohesion in Nigeria.

In a statement signed by the Directorate Director of the Yoruba Nation Global Directorate, Princess Adeola Atayero Olamijulo, she alerted the world to the fact that terrorism and breakdown of law and order are endemic in Nigeria of today.

Unworkable forced union

October 1st 2021 marks the 61st anniversary of Nigeria's Independence from Britain. The forced union of peoples of different nationalities and the British hand over of power to the Islamic north has plagued the country with nepotism, corruption, mismanagement, underdevelopment and mediocre leadership.

She said Southern Nigeria is now under siege of uncontrolled Fulani invasion from all over West Africa. The country ranks high in all the indices on terrorism published in the Global Terrorism Index, 2019. The Nigerian government protects Fulani terrorists, who openly carry military-grade weapons and routinely kidnap, rape, maim and kill Nigerians. An estimated 30,000 people have been massacred since President Buhari's government came to power in 2015. No one has been arrested, prosecuted or sentenced to jail for the past six years Gen. President Buhari has been in the saddle of government in Nigeria. She warned that such an uncontrollable situation could conflagrate into war.

Princess Olamijulo said the Yoruba citizens have become underdogs in their own country. The northerners have abused power, placed themselves in all major posts, debased democratic processes and continue to squander the country's wealth, much of which is generated in the Yoruba's south-west.

Self-determination

The Yoruba now demand self-determination and control of their resources. Nigeria is a ticking time bomb that would unleash an exodus of refugees into Europe. The British government must help undo the error it made in 1914 when it amalgamated the northern and southern protectorates and named it Nigeria.
