LOS ALTOS, Calif. - Aug. 18, 2021 - PRLog -- According to a December 2020 OnePoll survey of 2,000 adults (commissioned by Vision Direct), Americans spend a staggering 17 hours and 9 minutes looking at a digital device each day.  As most American's began to quarantine during the COVID pandemic, researchers have seen a rise in those numbers as America turned to devices used on a daily basis:  Flat-Screen TVs, computers, smartphones, tablets and laptops to name a few.

"There is massive danger in such an increased exposure to digital device screens when it comes to matters of your skin - especially your facial tissue and the delicate skin surrounding your eyes," states master of non-surgical facial rejuvenation & internationally recognized anti-aging specialist, Richard Haxton.  "Each of these devices emits High Energy Visible Light (HEV), commonly known as Blue Light Radiation and can be just as damaging as the sun's ultraviolet A/B rays."

HEV Light is on the blue end of the light spectrum and has shorter wavelengths and thus more energy.  It is by far the closest to the invisible, ultraviolet (UV) light which is known to burn skin as a sunburn and cause cancer.

Haxton, who owns Richard Haxton's Transformational Skin Solutions of Los Altos continues, "This blue light can dramatically lead to changes in your skin cells by cell shrinkage and even cell death.  When this occurs the aging process accelerates because the HEV Light is destroying collagen through oxidative stress and by producilng more free radicals that damage the skin.

It only takes a few minutes of exposure to trigger these reactions and increase facial lines and creases."

Considering that 85% of American's own a smartphone (Pew Research) and spend approximately 4 hours and 33 minutes a day on them (OnePoll) it would make sense that the exposure to HEV Light would be exacerbated by checking emails continuously, excessive texting and viewing media content.

"The Blue Light Radiation from these devices not only causes eye strain but also has the ability to age the tissue surrounding the eyes, which is the most delicate tissue on the face," says Haxton.

The thinnest skin on the human body for that matter is found on the eyelids at 0.05 mm thick.

"The good news is that there are Blue Light Blocking Screens for laptops and computers and glasses for other blue-light emitting devices that can be purchased at online sites such as Amazon.  The screens are Anti-Blue Light and Anti-UV that will protect both your face and your eyes"

Located in Los Altos, Richard Haxton is the owner of Richard Haxton's Transformational Skin Solutions of Los Altos (www.SkinByHaxton.com) and has been developing proprietary anti-aging treatments for well over 20 years.
