Follow on Google News | Professional Athlete, Kevion McDonald, Gives Back to Local YouthKevion McDonald spent most of his early years in Minneapolis, MN, but Menomonie, Wisconsin quickly became home during his time attending and playing football for the University of Wisconsin-Stout. McDonald made a name for himself on & off the field. He was two-time Offensive Player of the Year in 2017 and 2019, two-time Team MVP, 1st Team All-Conference All-Purpose Back, 2nd Team All-Conference All-Purpose Back and Wide Receiver, third in UW-Stout All-Time Receptions List, as well as team captain in 2019. Kevion knows that without the support of his family, friends, and community, he would not be where he is today, playing at the professional level. Because of this, he is passionate about volunteering his time with the youth and making sure they know their worth and importance. "It was great spending time with the children from the Boys and Girls Club, " Kevion stated. "Helping out the youth is a big priority in my life!" Kevion reflected on how he benefited from the Boys and Girls Club programs growing up, and how his involvement with them helped him stay active. "Giving back to the children and showing them they are capable of anything they put their minds to does a lot for them moving forward in life," he added. "I am an example of that and these programs provide a safe place to be while parents are working, as well as help them get extra help on schoolwork when they are out of class." McDonald was able to spend a few hours running football drills and playing some games. He spoke of the importance of staying active, setting goals, and never selling yourself short. The kids had a great time and look forward to him coming back! "The Boys and Girls Club kids really enjoyed Kevion sharing all of his knowledge and skills about football," said Tana Prokosch, Program Coordinator. "The Boys and Girls Club works to provide opportunities to those kids that need us most and he helped in making this successful!" The Boys' and Girls' Club relies heavily on volunteers and donations. Without the support of the community, their youth wouldn't have a safe place to go or mentors to look up to. To help make a difference in your community, go to bgca.org to find a location near you.
