Center for Excellence in Education Welcomes New Staff

MCLEAN, Va. - July 26, 2021 - PRLog -- The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) welcomes two new staff members who will help nurture careers of excellence and leadership in STEM for academically talented high school and college students. Laura-Ashley Alegbeleye and Zach Lipkin have joined Kim Edwards, Manager, as additional CEE managers of the CEE's STEM Teacher Enrichment Program (TEP). They will help to increase TEP's reach to connect even more rural and urban middle and high school underserved teachers and students with leading experts from industry and academia. TEP provides cutting-edge real-world STEM connections for students' classroom learning through CEE's cost-free Bite of Science programs presently in California, Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.

A native of the DC Metro Area, Laura-Ashley Alegbeleye earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), and a M.A. in Teaching from Loyola University Maryland. She comes to CEE after working eight years as a high school STEM educator, and has taught in private, public, and charter schools. Prior to transitioning to STEM education, Laura-Ashley worked in the engineering industry as an Application Engineer. Laura-Ashley is passionate about diversity in both STEM education and industry, and she is excited to continue working with teachers to nurture students toward STEM careers.

Zach Lipkin graduated from the College of William & Mary with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Economics. He served as a high school mathematics teacher at KIPP Collegiate in Nashville, through the Teach For America program. He also served as a volunteer for Camp Kesem, the largest national organization dedicated to supporting children impacted by a parent's cancer. In his free time, Zach enjoys cooking, cycling, and writing poetry. Zach looks forward to contributing to CEE through applying his diverse educational experiences.

"I'm so delighted that Laura-Ashley and Zach have joined CEE's staff. I'm confident that they will make a significant contribution to the success of the organization," said Joann DiGennaro, CEE President.
