TermGallery, an innovative dictionary powered by artificial intelligence

ELX, Spain - July 20, 2021 - PRLog -- It is already an everyday occurrence: nowadays, when having trouble spelling a word, understanding what it means or even how to translate it, we open up a browser and look it up. According to a Microsoft study, the linguistic use of search engines accounts for at least 2.7% of our internet searches - not taking into account the direct use of specialised online tools. A complementary study places language-related searches at a not negligible 4.7%.

Search engines lead us to text-based results providing also access to images, videos or information capsules. If our doubts are not solved, we usually access dictionaries, automatic translators, or encyclopaedia. Browsing through the results, we often have to spend precious time distinguishing the good from the bad sources.

So, why not have a modern approach to this type of workflow by integrating a variety of high-quality information to help us out, whilst also providing the kind of information that texts will confess if properly questioned?

This is the aim of TermGallery: to solve our language doubts through a comprehensive and innovative experience. To do this, its creators apply the latest artificial intelligence techniques with the aim of showing absolutely everything that the search for one or more words can teach us.

The TermGallery team defines it as an intelligent linguistic search engine; a multidimensional and multilingual space for words and their use. TermGallery combines a taste for the classics (definitions, synonyms, antonyms, morphological information, examples from books) with new look and a completely up-to-date content (images, examples from current newspapers, idiomatic expressions, spatial and temporal location of words, etc.). The intelligent selection of examples from high quality texts give the results much more credibility than the results of generic search engines. This saves us time and hesitation.

The application, recently launched in 5 languages (Spanish, Catalan, English, Russian and Portuguese) covers a target audience of more than 40% of Internet surfers. Among its immediate plans: more languages, pronunciation and translations to ease understanding through other languages.

TermGallery has been developed by Prompsit (https://www.prompsit.com), an AI and NLP company based in the UMH Scientific Park in Alicante with more than 15 years of experience in combining languages with technology.

Their motto: For language matters, search no more but search better with TermGallery: https://term.gallery.
