Tea for Charity Fundraiser Supports Clearwater Back to School Drive For Children
By: Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization
"Our Tea for Charity events started as a means to collect needed items for Clearwater non-profits,"
Back to school shopping goes back to the late nineteenth-century when newspapers included lists of required books for students to purchase before the start of a new school term. As schools began to purchase books for students, the lists shifted the focus to school supplies.
Starting in the 1940s, back-to-school shopping became a regular practice for American families and big business for retailers. A recent survey by the National Retail Federation found that families will spend an average of $696.70 per household to ready their kids for the upcoming school year.
"It feels good to help alleviate the burden of back to school shopping for some families," said Perry. "Plus while helping families you can enjoy our mini sandwiches, scones and clotted cream, teas and pastries for a refreshing summer afternoon."
The CCV Center hosts Charity Tea Parties to assist Clearwater charities. From raising baby supply items, to school supplies and books, the Charity Tea Parties have now benefitted half a dozen charities in the Clearwater area.
