By: Ocean County YMCA For more than 30 years, the Y has been offering the Before and After School Program to families. Y-Kids is a school-based state licensed childcare program that is designed to help families build self-sufficiency by providing safe, affordable, high quality childcare. "Childcare at the Y is about more than looking after kids," said Peter T. Rosario, President and CEO of the Ocean County YMCA. "It's about nurturing their development and providing a safe place to learn." Curriculum for the Y-Kids program includes homework help; A focus on Arts and Humanities, literacy, science and technology; anti-bullying and social competence; conflict resolution and character development; Y-Kids' sites for children are in the following partnering school districts: Berkeley School District, Manchester School District and Toms River School District. Depending on each school's schedule, the AM program begins at 6:30 am until the start of school. The PM program begins at school's dismissal until 6:00 p.m. Parents can choose a two-, three-, four- or five-day program. An $80 registration fee and first month's tuition are required to guarantee your spot for September and lock-in the special rate. Rates vary by school and reflects children returning to a full day program in September and can change based on state guidelines.
