Time has a way of eating away at our priorities, which is sad. "You're the most important thing in my life," says the speaker, before moving on to "my career... the family business... the children... my aged parents... even golf, football, or drinking..."
Invite her out on a date. Remember why you did it the first time and work your way up from there. When was the last time you talked for hours, held hands at the movies, or surprised her with a kiss? Make jokes about one another. If you don't feel like it, go ahead and do it anyhow; you'll remember why afterwards.
Thank the person who gave you the cup of coffee. Obscure anniversaries should be commemorated. Tell her how much you appreciate her ability to prepare a delicious meal — or vice versa. Take note of the hairstyle. Invite her out on a date. Clean up her vehicle. Pay attention to the details and appear as if the relationship is important to you.
You claim that you can't afford it. Believe us when we say that it is less expensive than divorce. The majority of psychotherapy consists of a few sessions to re-establish communication. A willingness to converse in that environment sends a powerful, positive message to your partner, especially for guys.
