First Place AZ is a charitable nonprofit organization advancing innovative residential options for adults with autism and other special abilities. It celebrates neurodiversity, independent living and the belief that housing and community options for people with autism and other special abilities should be as bountiful as they are for everyone else. First Place AZ is creating replicable residential and post-secondary education models that promote collaboration among the public, private, philanthropic and nonprofit sectors.

Sobelman is active in the community and advocates for autism awareness and resources. He has been involved in First Place AZ since 2018. Additionally, he has been on the Board of Directors of Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center since 2005 where he served as Board Chair from 2008 to 2017.
