PTS Awareness Month: PTSD, The Invisible Scar

PHOENIX - May 18, 2021 - PRLog -- Christopher "Boats" Oshana is honored to announce a Gathering at the State Capitol of his photo documentary "PTSD, The Invisible Scar" at Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza for PTS Awareness Month, June 2021. This gathering will showcases a few of the photographs that sheds light on the important topic of Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) and the men and women it affects. Christopher will display these extremely raw and emotionally charged images captured during an intimate interview and photo sessions.
Chris was asked why he continues to work on this project after 8 years and this is what he said, "Someone once told me that the art of photography stirs your emotions.  I have found that to be true within the documentary photography realm.  That is exactly why I am doing with "PTSD, The Invisible Scar".  I want the viewer to look into the eyes of our Veterans and see, even possibly feel their pain as I interview them.  Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) is a natural effect of a horrific event that our brave men and women have witnessed, been part of, or participated in."
I do this project because of people like Brad who did not have a sounding board.  He had five of his friends commit suicide and if I had not sat him down and talked with him, he might have been a statistic.  John who sent me a message on my birthday letting me know that I was his inspiration for seeking help.  That is why I do this project.
Chris is a retired Navy Veteran who served 20 years and has been serving as a civil servant with the US Army for the past 15 years. He has received numerous awards for his photography including the Maricopa County Community College District Artist of Promise winner in 2011 and placed in the 2012 Western Eye Photography Competition at Phoenix College and in 2013 granted workspace at the monOrchid in downtown Phoenix, AZ.
The GATHERING will be held on First Friday, 04 June 2021 from 6-9pm to show support for our Veterans that have been diagnosed with PTS. "PTSD, the Invisible Scar" will have a few of the projects photos will be on display at Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza entrance on 17th Street in view of the State Capital.
