In the wonderfully illustrated children's book Maggie's Marvelous Misadventures, written by Gary J. Spack and illustrated by Kay Wallitsch, the girl's mom suggests that instead of just playing video games, she should do all the things she's always wanted to do, but never had the time.

With nothing but time on her side, Maggie takes her mom's advice and writes up a "things to do" list that's chock full of adventures. But things don't work out the way she plans, putting Maggie into the middle of some humorous mishaps.

Above all, this inventive story was written to show kids what it means to be responsible during a pandemic. And "you might just find that being stuck at home isn't so bad and that there's really no place quite like home."

A teacher for 16 years, Gary J. Spack teaches third grade at Churchville Elementary School in Churchville, Pennsylvania. Before teaching, he was a marketing researcher. This is his third book. His first book, The Snack Machine, was published in 2017, followed by The Cat Burglars in 2019. The author is married to Michele, the director of elementary education for a neighboring school district. They live in Newtown, Pennsylvania, with their two cats, Pebbles and Bam Bam. He enjoys sports, fitness, hiking, music, and the martial arts, being a third-degree black belt, and a Tai Chi and Qigong practitioner.
