EUGENE, Ore. - April 6, 2021 - PRLog -- As the first state to decriminalize possessing small amounts of Cannabis, Oregon has been the poster child for other states handling of marijuana.
The Oregon Medical Marijuana Act was passed in 1998. This act allowed for the cultivation, possession and use of marijuana for medicinal purposes. A doctor had to review a patient's case and recommend marijuana in a medicinal capacity. On top of removing criminal penalties this act also established the first state registry for medical marijuana users. Once a patient received a prescription for marijuana they would obtain a permit through the Oregon Department of Human Services. When put into place a patient could possess no more than four ounces of usable marijuana, and have no more than seven plants of which three could be mature at any time. Registered with the Oregon Department of Human Services, the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program is in place to support the Oregon Medical Marijuana Act and in 2009 had over 20,974 patients registered (1).
In 2014, ballot measure 91 passed, legalizing the recreational use of marijuana based on regulation and taxation to be determined by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission. This ballot allowed for adults 21 years and older to carry one ounce of marijuana and have up to eight ounces in their dwelling. This also allowed the growing of four plants per household (2). Existing marijuana dispensaries were able to start recreational sales on October 1, 2015, and new retailers were able to apply to the Oregon Liquor Control Commission by January 4, 2016. It was reported that the first week recreational marijuana was legally available, $11 million in sales occurred (3). In 2020, marijuana sales in Oregon peaked to more than $1 billion (4).
Following the legalization of marijuana for medical purposes, Green Health Eugene opened its doors making it one of the original Oregon dispensaries. They loyally served the medical marijuana community until 2014 when recreational marijuana was passed. At this time they became an Oregon Liquor Control Commission licensed dispensary, and an Oregon recreational dispensary. This means that they are able to provide cannabis for any person 21+ with a valid ID, or 18+ with an Oregon Medical Marijuana Program Card. Green Health Eugene has been a pioneer in the cannabis dispensary industry. As one of the first dispensaries in the area they have an established reputation showing their desire to provide what's best for their customers. Green Health Eugene is the best choice for anyone looking for a recreational or medicinal Eugene Dispensary.
