MIAMI - April 1, 2021 - PRLog -- 2nd Novel in WWII Series Combines Action and Romance

Travel back to the daring sea battles of World War II, in the continuing story of Royal Naval Reserve Commander Warwick Hursey and his tales of action at sea and romance ashore.

Hursey in Conflict: A Story of Love and Victory is the sequel to the first book of the series, Love and War: Commander Hursey's Story, a graphic and realistic tale of actual battles that took place during the war.

Author David Arnold's novels about Hursey are fictitious, but they are based on ships, places on shore, and real historical events.

Hursey participates in clandestine missions and plots to deceive the Axis. He gets blown overboard in an action off Sardinia, nearly dies, and is picked up by the Italian Navy. After a short incarceration as a POW in Sardinia, he escapes, and comes back having captured a small Italian warship. In the process, he falls in love with a beautiful Croatian spy working for the Admiralty.

Honoured by the King, Warwick Hursey is personally appointed to his next mission by Winston Churchill.

He would learn about his new posting the following morning. He fingered the scar down the left side of his face thoughtfully. It had healed up well, since that day in early November when he was in action during the landing at Oran's Z Beach, but it would be there for life. It ran from his left temple down past his left eye to just above his lip. There was a little patch of grey hair around the top of the scar above his hairline. Warwick was only twenty-eight and didn't much like the thought of any of his hair being grey. His mind went back to the landing where he had been hit. They had been part of Operation Torch, the huge Allied invasion of North Africa during which he had commanded a flotilla of English and American landing craft.

Born in 1939, David Arnold is a retired Royal Naval Reserve Commander who served as a specialist navigator on passenger ships, frigates, and nuclear submarines. He holds a British Merchant Marine Extra Master's Certificate, and since leaving the service has sailed in many ocean races all over the world, including the British Americas Cup Team in Australia in 1986-87. He lives with his wife, Andrea, in rural Sussex, United Kingdom. He previously published a technical book on sailing, Tides and Currents.
