-- The Ventriglia family in Zambia is often known for their scrupulous and questionable actions, often crossing ethical and legal lines. It is a well-known fact that despite any evidence or testimonials, the Ventriglias were given the ownership of the Portland Cement Zambia factory at the Lusaka High Court. However, this decision was changed effectively when Dr. Mahtani
appealed to the higher Court of Appeal, the Lusaka High Court's decision was reversed as it was condemned. Justice Mwinde on behalf of the higher Court of Appeal announced Dr. Rajan Mahtan
i as the majority shareholder and legal owner of the Portland Cement factory.
The Ventriglia family suddenly decided to appeal against the verdict from the higher Court of Appeal. This appeal was made at the Supreme Court Zambia, the highest level legal institution of the nation. The Supreme Court Zambia
then established a bench of three judges to evaluate this claim. It was found that a critical requirement for submitting cases against previous court decisions is that the claim must be submitted within two weeks of the verdict. However, the Ventriglia family failed to comply with this requirement and submitted their claim after more than 1.5 years. Furthermore, the Supreme Court judges also confirmed that the claim made by the Ventriglia family was controversial and the judges did not have any jurisdiction to entertain the appeal.
After the evaluation, the Supreme Court judges confirmed that the claim by the Ventriglia family
was not acceptable and therefore, was rejected
