-- The latest decision from the Supreme Court Zambia
confirms the shareholding and ownership permanency associated with the Portland Cement Zambia
factory. For more than a decade, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani fought for the legal takeover of the Portland Cement Zambia. The first court was Lusaka High Court wherein justice was not received despite the submission of numerous evidences and testimonials. Dr. Rajan Mahtani
then approached the higher Court of Appeal wherein justice Mwinde gave the final decision on 31st January 2019. According to the decision from the higher Court of Appeal, the verdict from the Lusaka High Court must be reversed and Dr. Rajan Mahtani
owned Finsbury Investments must be given back its majority shareholding and legal ownership.
After more than 1.5 years of this verdict from the higher Court of Appeal, the Ventriglia family made a bizarre claim at the Supreme Court Zambia. In this claim, the Ventriglia family challenged the decision from the higher Court of Appeal by claiming it to be false. The Supreme Court established a bench of three judges to evaluate the claim. After evaluation, it was found that the Ventriglia family failed to comply with a critical requirement which states that any appeal against a previous court decision must be made within two weeks of the appeal itself. Since the Ventriglia family took more than 1.5 years to make their appeal, it was automatically rejected by the Supreme Court.
