Local Church to Feed 5,000Outreach Initiative Planned as Community Prepares for Spring BreakDuluth, GA— March 23, 2021 — Duluth's Fresh Start Church (FSC) has announced their spring outreach initiative, and it sounds like a miracle of Biblical standards. On Saturday, March 27, 2021, the church will be donating meals in hopes of feeding 5,000 in Duluth and the surrounding areas.  Participants Will drive-through the church's parking lot located at 2021 W. Liddell Road between 10 am and 2 pm for contactless trunk placement and a Covid friendly send-off. There are no special registration or eligibility requirements.  "People are hungry, both for food and proximity," said Elder Tommy Phifer, Fresh Start Church Board Member. "This is our opportunity to meet two needs with one experience – providing food and seeing people in person." Since 2009 Fresh Start Church has been active in serving Duluth In Gwinnett County in various ways. From free gas (2009) to back-to-school shoes (2015) to houses and cars (2017) to book bags and school supplies in 2018and 2019 in addition to many other outreach events throughout the last 11years. FSC has responded to the immediate needs of their surrounding community by giving. This initiative is no different. According to Feeding America's "Map the Meal Gap" study, more than 80,000 people in Gwinnett County were considered food insecure before the pandemic. That number is expected to increase by the end of the year. With the Feed 5,000 outreach, FSC will be supporting families in need, no questions asked. "Spring Break is almost here. We know there are a lot of kids and families who depend on school meals. Having these shelf-stable items available will hopefully relieve some of the pressure and anxiety these families may be feeling," says Pastor Alex Brown. In addition to volunteers from the church, FSC has partnered with Gwinnett Community Services and Gwinnett Cares to have enough hands. Donations from local organizations and individuals have been pouring in. There Will be much more than two fish and five loaves of bread at this community event
