Follow on Google News | TVS Vintage Network.Com Adds the Land of 1000 Kinescopes From the TVS Television Network LibraryKinescope shows from the Richard Dreyfus Dumont Collection and the TVS NBC Kinescope Collection are being processed for the streaming network that showcases the first decade of commercial TV in the USA.
By: TVS Television Network Richard Dreyfus was the first program director at the CBS Television Network in 1948. He then segued over to the Dumont Network where he amassed a large collection of Dumont kinescopes. These kinescopes increased in importance when it was learned that the Dumont kinescopes had been destroyed. Dreyfus later became an executive with All Sports All Day, the first cable TV network in the 1970's, which was merged into the TVS Television Network in 1987. The TVS NBC Kinescope collection came in 1991 when NBC was remodeling their studios in Burbank and arranged with TVS to acquire all of the cabinets and kinescopes that were in their facility. NBC distributed TVS programming in the 1970's and 1980's and provided production facilities for TVS programs in the 1990's. All of these shows are now making their way to the TVS Vintage Network.Com, which showcases TV shows from the first decade of commercial TV in the USA - 1948-1957. Most of these shows, such as 'The Little Show' starring John Conte, have never been aired since their original airings in 1950-1951. Dumont rarities include the only known Kinescopes of the 1954-55 NFL seasons that aired live on Dumont. In addition to airing on TVS Vintage Network, kinescopes from the post 1957 seasons will run on TVS Nostalgia Network.Com, which showcases classic black and white TV shows post 1957. TVS Vintage TV Network and TVS Nostalgia TV Network are joined by TVS Flashback Network, TVS Buckboard Network, TVS Quiz Show Network, TVS Opus Network, TVS Hi Tops Network, TVS Pinball Network, TVS Cipher Network, and TVS Talk Network as dedicated 24/7 streaming channels that showcase classic television shows.
