Reach for the Stars ~ Rocket Competition National Winners' Celebration at Space Camp

RFTS National Winners -
Jasmine Brooks (15) won at Venice High School in Venice, Florida. Jasmine launched with teacher, John Hearon.
Emmanuel Cook (11) won at Lafayette Upper Elementary in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The competition was hosted by Lisa Lewis.
Daniel Courson (15) scored his win at Pine Ridge High in Deltona, Florida under the direction of teacher, Tina Hackey. Ms Hackey involves hundreds of her students in the RFTS Competition annually.
Catherine Goehring (12) took the honors in Bismarck, ND at an event sponsored by the Bismarck Mandan Area Home Educators Association. Kristy Rose ran the event.
Alyssa Richardson (17) competed with her JROTC unit in Volusia County, Florida under the direction of Major John White.
Alex Winn (13) launched at the Hands on Science Center in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Olga Oakley was in charge.
The winners will be presented a Space Shuttle Challenger commemorative medal and certificate signed by Astronaut Jon McBride. McBride piloted the Challenger on early missions. They get to launch their rockets from Homer Hickam Field under an October Sky. Hickam is a NASA engineer and author (Rocket Boys / October Sky).
RFTS Competition www.RocketCompetition.com co-director, Kathy Colpas says, "We promise national winners - memories to last a lifetime and bragging rights for generations to come. Launching rockets from a memorable location and being honored under the historic Saturn V rocket allows us to fulfill our promise."

Several groups joined to provide unforgettable memories for the national winners of the annual Reach for the Stars ~ National Rocket Competition.
« Space Camp / U.S. Space & Rocket Center provides an unforgettable day for the winners.
« American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Foundation partnered with the RFTS Competition this year. Their funding and support has been invaluable.
o AIAA provides achievement certificates and a photo journal of the celebration
captured by G. Alan Lowrey.
« National Association of Rocketry (NAR) recognizes the winners' achievement.
« National Space Society presents free NSS membership.
Without them this celebration wouldn't be possible.
