Miller Homes Supports Local Yorkshire Primary Schools with World Book Day Donations
By: FMPR Ltd
Miller Homes, which currently has seven developments across the region with a further three planned for 2021, has donated money to the primary school closest to each development to mark World Book Day on 4th March 2021. The money is to help support a return to more traditional ways of learning rather than the necessary digital learning which has formed much of their education for the best part of a year.
"Books are such an important part of the learning process and we recognise that some children may not have had access to books whilst they have been home schooling," said Sarah Whinfrey, Regional Sales Manager, Miller Homes Yorkshire. "We felt it was particularly important to support local schools as they plan for a full return and to offer the donation specifically to purchase books so that children in Yorkshire can enjoy all elements of school life."
With reading a printed book proven to give higher levels of information absorption, drive higher academic achievement, and be easier on the eyes then their digital counterparts, there is little wonder that printed book sales exceeded the 200m mark in 2020, the first time since 2012. Furthermore, additional learning materials will support the enhanced covid-secure measures and quarantining of books in the classroom as the pandemic continues.
Miller Homes has made a donation to Stanley Grove Primary in Wakefield, Boroughbridge Primary School, Drighlington Primary School, Thorpe Willoughby Primary School, Greengates Primary Academy in Apperley Bridge and Bramhope Primary School.
"We hope that the money will be able to support learning objectives or make some welcome additions to school libraries," said Sarah. "Reading supports speech and writing too in the early years and can provide a broader educational spectrum as students go through the school years and it is vital to a well- rounded education."
Miller Homes currently has seven development across the Yorkshire region. Visits to the developments are currently by appointment only. Details of developments and current homes available can be found by visiting https://www.millerhomes.co.uk/
