Southern California Black Chamber of Commerce - Long Beach Area Names Sharifah Hardie President
By: Ask Sharifah
The Southern California Black Chamber of Commerce (SCBCC) is a business organization dedicated to improving the economic environment for the minority business community and fostering business development and prosperity, placing particular focus on economic development, community development, public policy, and membership services. In her new role, Ms. Hardie will serve the minority-owned business community of Long Beach and the surrounding cities of Lakewood, Cerritos, Bellflower, Carson, Torrance, Downey, Lynwood, and Norwalk.
Ms. Hardie is prepared to step into her new role and help her community members navigate this especially difficult time. "Black-owned small businesses have been struggling during the economic recession caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, as many do not have knowledge of the resources available or know where to get support when applying to help their businesses stay afloat and thrive," says Ms. Hardie. "Black-owned and operated small businesses strengthen our community and our country. As community leaders, we must do everything in our power to increase every black-owned business's access to all grants, loans, and assistance available to them and ensure business owners are prepared to take advantage of these programs. The SCBCC has been instrumental in bringing this information to the community and together, we can support our businesses as they grow from solo-preneurship into corporations that feed families and change lives. This is something I have done many times, and I am eager to hit the ground running and help others learn to do it, too."
