Credhedz Community Conversation Worries Homophobes

Happy Seeing More Gay Couples In TV Adverts? Gay is here to stay.

WASHINGTON - Feb. 22, 2021 - PRLog -- Credhedz (USA) alarmed as many other news media outlets including the LGBT+ community, by reactions to the Cadbury's television advert about to make way broadside across the Atlantic. Currently running in the United Kingdom, it has received grave backlash through what may be perceived the great Christian schism. Double-standards, shear hypocrisy, shown in a petition run by CitizenGo to ban what they describe as 'The "Gay Creme Eggs" Advert' sees tempers raising to boiling-point. The claim is that it is of a sexual-charged nature offensive to religion and likely to harm children.

Whether you are indifferent to it, or it does not affect you either way seeing gay couples on screen. The hypocrisy underlying what UK news coverage has labelled the 'Homophobic Backlash' strikes at the heart of debate on fair and equal rights and opportunities.

The advert itself features a real-life family gay couple. It is not an ad-campaign indiscriminately objectifying just any random one or number of the sexes, a male or female, or gender man or woman per se - though most adverts do. It depicts a gay couple consenting to share a kiss playfully using food.

At the crux of heated debate surrounding it is the realisation as to whether there really is any difference between this and what children and adults see in TV adverts. We can all recall the intimate mouth-to-mouth Malteser sharing heterosexual couple on TV recently, and children's Disney favourite 'Lady And The Tramp' each slurping on either end of spaghetti drawing closely to a kiss.

The anti-gay petition has gained traction reaching upward of 25,000 signatories, by petitioners expressing disgust alleging that, "Cadbury's...is traditionally a brand associated with families", that its exposure to children is a "sexualised... form of grooming" and that it "sexually objectifies individuals" - despite the gay participants being a couple.

The petitioner's campaign to strike it down or else threatening to boycott Cadbury's products is hypocritical, bigoted and homophobic. It shrouds itself under the guise of Christianity, to deny the existence of gay couples and goes against the spirit of tolerance and community.

That is why with opposing homophobia, in all its forms, Credhedz has petitioned through Change.Org setting up its own campaign 'Happy seeing More Gay Couples in TV Adverts' in attempts to counter-balance the injustice and inequalities and to set the matter straight - so to speak.
