ST. JOHNS, Fla. - Feb. 15, 2021 - PRLog -- The Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) is a test that assesses the progress of students in third through 10th grades with a state-set curriculum criteria and evaluation of students based on high-order thinking skills. The three main studies include English Language Arts (ELA) Reading, ELA Writing, and Mathematics. Additionally, students in grades five and eight are required to take the Statewide Science Assessment. The test schedule in 2021 runs from April 5 until May 21 with computer-based and classroom testing for students attending public and private schools statewide.

According to Kimberly Mullins, co-owner of The Tutoring Club of St. Johns, several parents have expressed concerns over whether their child is ready for the FSA, especially after schools were closed last year due to COVID. "The company's trained tutors help students who are challenged in the classroom prepare for the mandatory tests by identifying skill discrepancies and utilizing a variety of methodologies and strategies. Providing curriculum to fill specific gaps bundled with asking and answering questions to stimulate critical thinking can help students reason logically to find the answer," said Mullins. "This method of teaching can have positive and future implications. We prepare students for future classes and help them develop self-confidence and trust in their learning abilities," she said. "FSA testing times are lengthy and stringent and students can benefit greatly from specific FSA prep. FSA can fast track the preparation for most students."

The Tutoring Club of St Johns offers an FSA readiness assessment for $75 (normally $150) through the end of February per student which includes reading, writing, and math. The evaluation determines if the student is ready for real-time testing this spring. Comprehensive assessments with an estimated score can assist students and parents with a better understanding of the student's readiness to score a passing grade in the upcoming FSA tests.
