CCIA Announces Call for Applications for 2021 Mining Cleantech Challenge

Market-driven showcase connects clean technology to global mining organizations

BOULDER, Colo. - Feb. 4, 2021 - PRLog -- The Colorado Cleantech Industries Association (CCIA) is now accepting applications for the sixth annual Mining Cleantech Challenge, a market-driven innovation showcase to be held virtually on April 22, 2021.

CCIA is hosting the Mining Cleantech Challenge (MCC) in partnership with mining leaders from across the globe. The MCC provides targeted connections between mining industry operators, OEMS, and clean technology solution providers with the goal of meeting industry's needs while introducing innovative cleantech solutions to the marketplace.

Companies selected for participation in the program have the opportunity to present directly to industry representatives. There are no geographic restrictions for this event.

"Promoting innovation in the mining sector provides pathways to unlocking cleaner, greener and more efficient processes and resource management," said CCIA Executive Director Helen El Mallakh. "We are pleased to collaborate with leading industry partners to foster, connect and support this powerful platform for innovation exchange."

CCIA's partners for this program include Newmont, Fresnillo, BHP, Anglo American, Royal Gold, Ausenco, Resource Capital Funds, Consulate General of Canada, Black & Veatch, Rocky Mountain Institute, Colorado School of Mines, and Clareo Partners.

The application process is now open for clean technology companies to showcase their innovative products and technologies. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
  • Advanced materials and chemicals
  • Biological solutions
  • Blockchains
  • Cyanide destruction and/or cyanide regeneration processes for slurries or solutions
  • Electrification or battery applications
  • Energy efficiency
  • Machine learning
  • Methane and nox gas detection or control
  • Mercury abatement and/or removal processes
  • Pre-concentration
  • Plant or biological solutions
  • Process solutions
  • Production efficiency
  • Production management
  • Remote / distributed power
  • Remote operation or automation of machinery
  • Remote sensing
  • Resource characterization and mine planning
  • Scale mitigation/prevention
  • Slurry and/or dirty solution filtration
  • Tailings / waste handling and disposal
  • Underground mining alternate energy options
  • Water

Interested cleantech companies will enter a competitive vetting process, after which 10-12 companies will be invited to present their technologies to major mining companies.
