-- Despite a yearlong health pandemic, team members at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant raised more than $18,000 to benefit four different state and national charity programs.
Through the annual Company Giving Program, Restaurant employees collected $18,369 for the Barb Smith Suicide Resource & Response Network.
The year-long company campaign wrapped up in December, and the Restaurant's fundraising total was announced in January. Employees raised funds through a number of methods including a voluntary payroll deduction, candy sales, and other activities throughout the year.
"It has been my honor to chair the 2020 giving program committee," said Jodie Callahan, chairperson of this year's Bavarian Inn Restaurant Company Giving Program. "Thanks to overwhelming support of our team members, guests and the Zehnder Family, we were able to raise the second highest amount ever raised in the history of our giving program and we did it in half the time, due to COVID-related restrictions which closed us for almost half the year."
At the same time, Callahan added, the Restaurant began creating a "safety net around team members" who may be having thoughts of suicide, through a layering of training provided by the Network.
"The Network uses and teaches an effective model for suicide prevention, which is cast from a vision produced by LivingWorks, the world leader in suicide prevention training solutions," Callahan said.About Bavarian Inn Restaurant
