These poles help transport rolls of carpet within a warehouse, often with replaceable parts and tapered tips. Such material usually has a high volume and an atypical shape for boxes or packages. That is why carpets need a specialized mode of transport.
"Forklifts use rug and carpet rams to ease transport of them," a spokesperson for Helmar Parts explains. "In a warehouse area, the failure to stabilize carpets or rugs can prove potentially dangerous in limited spaces, while wasting the operators' time or damaging the material."
Safety is a high priority, with each rug and carpet ram having safety chains and a steel structure. The pole is removable and rotatable, to allow for easier storage when the ram is not in use. Spring-loaded locking pins keep the rug or carpet on the carriage, preventing them from slipping off during transportation.
