ALAMEDA, Calif. - Jan. 26, 2021 - PRLog -- San Francisco Bay Area-based commercial developer srmERNST Development Partners, in partnership with Hillwood, recently celebrated the topping-off—placement of the final steel beam—for a new build-to-suit building at the Harbor Bay Business Park. Exelixis, Inc., an oncology-focused biotechnology company, has signed a 20-year lease for the building. Located at 1951 Harbor Bay Parkway in Alameda, once completed, the property will include approximately 220,000 square feet of office space and bring up to 900 new jobs to the area.

A growing biotechnology company that develops and commercializes treatments for patients with cancer, Exelixis relocated its headquarters from South San Francisco to Alameda in 2018. The company initially occupied two buildings at The Waterfront campus, and with continued research, development and commercial successes, have been able to expand to now occupy four of the six existing buildings at The Waterfront. 1951 Harbor Bay Parkway, which will eventually become the new headquarters for Exelixis, will feature an efficient, state-of-the-art infrastructure essential to supporting the continued expansion of the company as they bring forward the next wave of Exelixis cancer treatements. It will also showcase a permanent public art installation by Alameda artist Adrien Segal and incorporate sustainable design features including ultra-low flow water fixtures, carbon-offsetting concrete, rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, and solar PV carports—for which, srmERNST is pursuing a LEED-BD+C Gold Certification through the US Green Building Council.

"We are excited to have completed this portion of construction," said Joe Ernst, President at srmERNST. "Harbor Bay Business Park is expanding, and companies like Exelixis are an ideal tenant as we continue to transform this campus into a home for companies to advance their missions and do important work."

The project is expected to be completed in Spring of 2022. For more information about Exelixis, visit www.exelixis.com.
