In order to apply and enter the express entry pool, a candidate is required to meet the eligibility criteria in any of the three economic immigration streams. In order to enter the express entry pool, a candidate must have 67 points out of 100. These points are evaluated on the basis of six selection factors such as age, level of education, language proficiency, work experience, adaptability and arranged employment.
Post entering the pool, candidates are awarded with CRS scores. The candidates with the highest CRS scores are invited to apply for Canada's permanent residence. Also, the candidates who received a provincial nomination from the province as per the Alberta Express entry stream will be awarded with 600 additional points towards their CRS scores.
In the year 2020, the province of Alberta was allowed to issue 6,250 nomination certificates, however, due to the global pandemic this limit has come down to 4,000. Moreover, these 4,000 nomination certificate limit was fulfilled prior to June 2020 and that's the only reason why no draw was being conducted by the province of Alberta.
Also, the numbers of nomination certificates that will be issued this year in 2021 have not been disclosed so far.
